The Work for MORPC

This is the piece I took over to the MORPC today. It is "Feast" and is 22"h x 30" w. Patchwork, machine embroidery, applique, beads and sequins. Much more lush in person, glowing turquoises and oranges. I love koi.

Beautiful work!!! Oh I love this. How long have you been quilting? You really captured the essence of being spirited.

I started when I saw the Penny McMorris quilt show on PBS, but I had all these rules (everything had to be hand sewn etc) and was an impatient teenager. I really started around 1996, and took a Turtle Art Camp with Susan Shie in 1998 that kind of blew some mental doors off.

Hi Andi, I was looking through your blog on all your pieces and art work, and they are all beautiful. The awards and books your in is such an accomplishment. I really get inspired by your work. I'm working on something now inspired by, of course you.

Oh yeah, I've been practicing on my calligraphy writing. It's going take practice everyday, but I'm getting the hang of it. I have also started a writing a book. So I've been pretty busy. Busy being creative that is.

Art is the best way of running away without leaving home. (Totally mangled the quote, but it's true; I can escape for hours while working on a project). I haven't been drawing every day yet, but have made some progress. Sounds like you are too! :)
